YUFENG Impact Idler Roller, also known as buffer idler or shock-absorbing conveyor roller, is installed at the feeding and blanking points of belt conveyors to absorb the impact generated when bulk materials fall onto the conveyor belt. The roller combines a steel or HDPE shell with elastic rubber or polyurethane buffer components to distribute impact forces and reduce concentrated stress on the conveyor belt and supporting structure.
YUFENG provides segmented rubber ring, integral PU lagging, HDPE, trough impact, galvanized and flame-retardant anti-static impact idlers for mining, cement, aggregate, port, chemical and coal handling systems. Roller diameter, buffer material, rubber ring thickness, hardness, sealing structure and bearing configuration can be selected according to belt width, material lump size, drop height and working environment.
The segmented rubber ring impact idler consists of multiple independent elastic rubber rings arranged around the roller body. The separate-ring structure allows an individual damaged ring to be replaced without necessarily replacing the complete roller, making it suitable for general mine, quarry and medium-impact loading stations.
The integral PU impact idler uses a continuous polyurethane buffer layer around the roller. The one-piece construction reduces ring displacement and provides wear resistance for applications involving large material lumps, greater drop heights and repeated heavy impact.
The HDPE impact idler uses a plastic roller shell with a suitable buffer structure for corrosive environments. Its non-metallic surface avoids conventional steel rust and can be considered for coastal ports, chemical plants and other salt-fog or moisture-exposed loading areas.
| Roller Type | Core Characteristic | Applicable Working Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Segmented Rubber Ring Impact Idler | High shock absorption and replaceable individual rings | General mine and quarry medium-impact loading points |
| Integral PU Lagging Impact Idler | Wear-resistant one-piece buffer layer with stable positioning | High-drop and heavy lump material loading areas |
| HDPE Shell Impact Idler | Rust-free and resistant to selected corrosive environments | Coastal ports and chemical plant loading areas |
Multiple independent rubber rings provide distributed elastic cushioning at the loading point. When a ring becomes damaged or worn, the replaceable-ring structure can simplify maintenance compared with replacing the complete roller assembly.
The continuous PU outer layer provides a uniform impact-buffering surface and is suitable for large lump materials that generate repeated concentrated impact. Its one-piece construction avoids the lateral movement that may occur with separate rings.
The 30°, 35° or 45° three-roller trough impact arrangement increases the supported belt area while distributing the material impact across multiple roller positions. It is suitable for wide and heavy-duty conveyor belts handling large quantities of bulk materials.
The galvanized steel surface provides additional corrosion protection for outdoor and humid loading areas. It can be used at open-air stockyards, aggregate plants and other locations where the roller is exposed to atmospheric moisture.
The HDPE shell eliminates metal surface rust and can be selected where salt spray, humidity or selected chemical media may affect conventional steel rollers. It is suitable for coastal wharves and chemical material loading stations.
This configuration combines a conductive buffer material with flame-retardant properties for applicable underground coal mine loading areas. The specific roller and supporting system should be selected according to the mine's applicable safety requirements.
YUFENG provides standard impact idler outer diameters of 76, 89, 108, 114, 133, 168, 194 and 219 mm. Diameter selection should consider belt width, belt speed, impact load and the conveyor frame design.
The roller series can be matched with conveyor belt widths of approximately 500–2400 mm. Roller length, shaft dimensions and buffer arrangement can be customized according to the conveyor structure.
The thickness and hardness of rubber or PU buffer components can be adjusted according to material lump size, drop height and expected impact intensity.
YUFENG Impact Idler Rollers can be configured for DTII, TD75 and CEMA-type conveyor frames. Existing frame drawings or roller dimensions can be provided for replacement and project matching.
The rubber or polyurethane buffer layer provides elastic deformation when bulk material falls onto the belt, reducing the direct transmission of impact energy to the belt carcass and supporting structure.
Using several impact rollers across the loading area distributes the impact force instead of concentrating the entire load at one point. The number and spacing of rollers should be determined according to material weight, drop height and conveyor design.
Accurate machining of the tube and shaft helps maintain stable roller rotation under heavy loading. YUFENG specifies roller shell concentricity of ≤0.5 mm for the referenced standard configuration.
Multi-stage labyrinth and rubber contact sealing systems help protect the bearing cavity from dust, water and material contamination during operation at bulk loading stations.
YUFENG provides natural rubber buffer rings, integral PU polyurethane layers and HDPE-based configurations according to impact, wear and corrosion requirements.
Q235 carbon steel and 304 stainless steel shell options are available. HDPE shell configurations can also be selected for corrosion-sensitive environments.
Electrostatic coating and hot-dip galvanizing are available for steel roller shells, while PU or rubber outer structures can be supplied according to the selected impact configuration.
Double or triple composite nylon labyrinth sealing structures can be configured with rubber contact seals to improve dust and water protection around the bearing assembly.
Domestic high-precision bearings or imported SKF/FAG C3-clearance bearings can be selected according to continuous operating requirements and customer specifications.
Low-temperature-resistant or flame-retardant anti-static buffer materials can be specified for cold-region and underground mining applications according to the required working conditions.
Standard steel impact idlers use Q235 high-frequency ERW steel tube, while HDPE models use virgin HDPE material. Shell dimensions and wall thickness can be matched to the specified impact load.
The shaft uses 45# cold-drawn solid round steel in the standard configuration, providing resistance to bending under repeated impact and radial loads.
High-elastic natural rubber or wear-resistant polyurethane raw material is selected according to the required shock absorption and abrasion performance.
C3-clearance deep-groove ball bearings provide the rotating support for the roller assembly. Bearing selection influences running resistance, heat generation and service life.
High-toughness nylon labyrinth rings and weather-resistant nitrile rubber seals are used to help protect the bearing cavity from dust and moisture.
Steel tubes, shafts, bearings and buffer materials are sampled for applicable rotation, dimensional, aging and impact-related properties before entering the assembly workshop.
| Performance Item | Standard Requirement | Test Standard |

Actual impact absorption, service life and load capacity depend on roller diameter, buffer material, hardness, belt width, material lump size, drop height, conveying speed and operating environment.
The impact idler support frame is fixed at the designed blanking position. Both roller shaft ends are aligned with the support brackets and locked with the specified pins or bolts. The complete group should rotate freely before the conveyor is placed into operation.
For high-drop crusher feeding points, approximately three to five groups of impact idlers can be arranged within about 5 m of the loading area to distribute concentrated material impact. The exact arrangement should be determined according to the conveyor design.
For segmented rubber-ring configurations, a damaged individual buffer ring can be replaced when the roller structure permits. If the roller tube, shaft or bearing is damaged, the complete roller assembly should be replaced.
The conveyor must be stopped and isolated from its power source before impact idler maintenance. After installation, roller rotation, shaft locking and belt alignment should be checked before restarting the equipment.
Impact idlers are commonly installed below crusher discharge points where large stones or ore can fall from a significant height and generate concentrated impact on the conveyor belt.
Segmented rubber and PU impact idlers can be selected for ore, aggregate and stone handling systems according to material lump size, loading height and conveyor capacity.
Impact roller groups can support conveyor sections receiving limestone, clinker, gravel and other bulk materials from crushing or screening equipment.
HDPE impact idlers can be considered where salt spray, humidity or selected chemical media create a corrosion risk for conventional steel components.
Applicable flame-retardant and anti-static impact idler configurations can be supplied for underground loading points where the conveyor system must meet relevant mine safety requirements.
YUFENG Impact Idler Rollers are manufactured with reference to CEMA, GB/T10595 and ISO15365 requirements for conveyor equipment and roller performance.
Rollers for underground mining applications can be configured according to relevant coal mine safety requirements. The applicable certification depends on the specific product structure and project requirements.
Available documentation can include ISO9001 quality management certification, CE export documentation, SGS raw material inspection reports, coal mine safety test documents, and factory impact-resistance and service-life test reports according to the product configuration.
YUFENG can supply Fabric Conveyor Belt, Steel Cord Conveyor Belt, Sidewall Conveyor Belt, Pipe Conveyor Belt, Patterned Conveyor Belt and Rough Top Conveyor Belt for complete bulk material handling systems.
Supporting rollers include trough carrying idlers, return idlers, self-aligning idlers and corresponding support brackets for different conveyor sections.
Wear-resistant rubber sheets, conveyor skirting rubber, vulcanization repair adhesives and patch kits can be supplied for installation and maintenance.
HDPE Water Pipe and HDPE Dredge Pipe can be supplied for auxiliary water and slurry transportation in mining and industrial projects.
Roller diameter, shell wall thickness, buffer hardness, rubber ring dimensions and sealing structure can be adjusted according to customer working drawings and impact conditions.
76, 89 and 108 mm impact rollers can be bundled with steel wire, fitted with protective caps on both shaft ends and packed in solid wooden cases for transportation.
168, 194 and 219 mm impact rollers can be arranged on wooden pallets, protected with plastic film and secured to reduce surface damage and movement during container transportation.
HDPE impact rollers can be separated with foam or other cushioning materials to prevent collision and surface damage during loading and unloading.
Impact rollers should be stored horizontally on pallets with a stacking height of no more than 1.2 m. Rubber and PU buffer components should be protected from prolonged direct sunlight, high temperatures, rainwater and other conditions that may accelerate material aging.
The material drop height is an important parameter because higher falling distances generate greater impact energy. The buffer material and impact roller arrangement should be selected according to the actual loading height.
Large and sharp lump materials require stronger impact absorption and may be better suited to PU or reinforced rubber impact structures than standard rollers.
Provide the conveyor belt width and existing frame dimensions so that the roller length, diameter, shaft configuration and support structure can be matched correctly.
Humidity, salt spray, chemical exposure, outdoor installation and temperature should be considered when selecting carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, HDPE or specialized buffer materials.
Segmented rubber ring designs can be considered where replaceable buffer rings are preferred, while integral PU configurations may be more appropriate when a continuous wear-resistant outer layer is required.
For an accurate factory quotation, provide the matched conveyor belt width, roller outer diameter, impact idler type, material drop height, material lump size, working environment, total order quantity and target delivery port.
YUFENG technical engineers can evaluate the appropriate roller diameter, shell material, buffer structure, bearing, sealing system and support frame according to the loading conditions.
